Buddy:
The Buddy Holly Story

3rd - 11th November 2006

Tom Mann Theatre

Summary

It's 1956 and the unsuspecting folk of Lubbock, Texas USA are about to be introduced to the sounds of rock 'n' roll care of one Charles Hardin Holley, better known as Buddy Holly.

We follow Buddy and his friends Joe Maudlin and Jerry Allison, who make up his band 'The Crickets', as they attempt to break out of the country scene and establish their own brand of music. After a false start with country label the boys sign up with innovative producer Norman Petty and their career takes off. A string of hits follows, both in the US and internationally.

Over the course of three years, Buddy records some 100 songs, having written most of them, becoming one of the most influential musicians of his generation.

On 3 February 1959, at about 1 o'clock in the morning, his life ends in a tragic plane crash. And the rest will just be rock 'n' roll...
